What is the purpose of an environmental audit?

When performing an environmental audit, Interzero specialists will check:

  • Does the plant have the required administrative decisions?
  • Does it have a settled legal status with regard to documentation and permits and notifications for gas and dust emissions, documentation and permits and notifications for water, documentation and permits for waste generation, permits for waste processing and collection?
  • Is it doing the right thing in terms of environmental protection (e.g., waste management, water and sewage management, packaging handling, air emissions)?
  • Do reports on environmental fees, reports submitted to KOBiZE, records in BDO reflect the actual scope of the company's use of the environment, or only a slice of it?
  • Did the audited company overlook any type of measurements it should have taken?

After the audit is completed, a report is prepared as a summary of the observations made during the audit. Interzero specialists can both perform a wide-ranging environmental audit and narrow the environmental audit to the sector of interest to the plant.

CARRIAGE OF DANGEROUS GOODS (ADR)

Dangerous goods are materials that, due to their characteristics, pose a threat to health, life and the environment. According to the definition set forth in the regulations, dangerous goods are goods that are prohibited for transportation, or allowed under the conditions set forth in the regulations. During the audit, it will be indicated which substances count as dangerous goods.

Yes, some waste falls under the regulations on the transportation of dangerous goods (known as ADR). In order to be sure whether the waste generated by a company is a dangerous good, its classification must be carried out. If it is found to meet the classification criteria, there are also further obligations that the company must meet in order to properly send the waste for transport. Dangerous goods are, for example, waste, i.e. paints, washings containing chemicals, beakers of acids, hydroxides, solvents and others.

There is no legal obligation. However, it is the best way to verify whether a company has to comply with any specific duties related to the transportation of dangerous goods, or whether current procedures are being carried out correctly.

The audit covers the entire activities of the enterprise. Material safety data sheets must be prepared for the substances that are used at the plant. The verification also includes methods of delivery, packaging containing dangerous goods, storage areas for chemicals. Instructions, procedures, if any, should be prepared that deal with the handling of chemicals/hazardous goods.

The audit will help determine the obligations of the entrepreneur related to the transportation of dangerous goods. These regulations, contrary to what most people think, do not apply only to carriers, factories also have to perform certain activities.

The audit will be conducted by the Dangerous Goods Transportation Safety Advisor (DGSA).

The best way to conduct an audit is to meet at the premises of the entrepreneur so that the auditor can see what is going on at the plant, what the delivery areas, storage areas, etc. look like. You provide documentation in the form of cards electronically. If the enterprise wishes, the audit can take place online.
